yamaha 90hp 2004

running wot motor cuts back to 3000 rpms looks like plenty of water from pee hole. The problem is slow down it goes back to wot .thinking water pump or thermostat.whats your thoughts

OK, just like the 85 changed water pump and all seems fine run about 3hrs at different speeds and never missed a lick. Goiong out fishing in the am ,time will tell

I have the same symptoms on my 1998 90hp yamaha except when it does lose power the heat alarm goes off even though it is peeing great and has a new impeller. After lots of research I found out it has a the inside of the block has a buildup of salt even though i do flush after every trip (i guess not enough). Put a garbage can under it and flushed with water mixed with 8 gallons of cleaning vinegar for 30 min and it help the problem. You can also use salt away with a injector to flush which is much easier but more costly.
