Repowered my 2005 22' Davis recreational fishing boat last spring installing new Volvo 300CR engine and outdrive. Ran great for 5 trips-about 55 hrs. Then it wouldn't start after launching about 10 weeks ago. My mechanic said high pressure fuel pump failed and he replace the pump. Took if finshing and ran fine till end of day we were trolling in when the engine icon, triangle icon and beeped came on. We were able to make it in but engine would not exceed 3000 rpm.
My certified volvo mechanicm though the problem was an oxygen sensor on manifold and replaced it. The next trip the motor did same thing as before, engine icon, triangle icon & beeper. Tried to make it in but engine stopped and would not start, got towed in. My mechanic now says high prressure fuel pump failed again. Don't know why fuel pump keeps failing, there doesn't seem to be any fuel supply problems from the tank. Also don't know if pump problems and engine emission system alarms are related.
I heard Volvo had fuel pump problems in the past, wondering if others have had similiar problems with new 300 generation of motors. Thanks for any advice u can give me, Martin
