STARTER STAYS ENGAGED AFTER SWITCH RETURNS TO RUN

My 1969 292 gm 6 cylinder -- the starter keeps engaging after the key returns to the run position. I have replaced the keyed switch, pulled the starter and had it tested and lubricated. Not sure what to do now. Something is telling the starter to keep cranking run or no run. Advice?

I had that problem my self but in another engine

My problem was the front starter bearings

You try to start direct from the starter don't use the switch and if you still have this problem it's the starter
