Picking Right size Outboard for 1997 Sundance f 16

Hi from Ny, need to know where to start when choosing a used outboard for my skiff, it's main purpose will be putting around South Shore bay areas. 30hp, or 40hp do i need long body or short? Thanks for any and all help
