No idle mercruiser 5.7

I have a 1986 sea ray 230 with a 5.7 mercruiser.
It doesn't want to run at idle at all. If you let it warm up a lot it will allow you to shift to drive. It runs all at all speeds over idle. Any help would be appreciated
