I have a 1983 Alumacraft Classic 16 with a Merc 50hp OB. I would like to add power trim/tilt. Is this financially practical and how can I find out what unit to look for?

2002 merc 200hp carborated with merc controls. started out season with a mild glunk when shifting which seems to be quite normal. Did a lot of lobestor hooping this year next to break waters which calls for a lot of shifting and manuering of the boat. The shift is now very hard with a small gring and then the glunk into gear, Checked shifting cable for nuetral position and all looks well, prop spin in nuetral in either direction. any thoughts, ideas , suggestions??? Thanks out front Jo

I have a carburated 1996 225 merc offshore outboard. It cranks up and runs fine for a couple of minutes then it just kills like if I turned the key off,no spitting or sputtering, just like if the key is turned off. Also I notice that while it is running,if I unplug the main wire harness(8 pin),it kills in the same manner.Anyone with any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I have a 1996 Mercury 175 offshore outboard. I never had any trouble with this motor. Last week after a day out I was on my way in on full plane and wide open the engine started to lose power and stopped running. Would not start only when I put in neutral wipe open but still would stall. I had to be towed in. I changed all the fuel lines gaskets and filter and it ran with a hose hooked up put it in the water and again could not get it started any help would be great !!!
Thanks

My 50hp Merc gets no spark. Stator ok i think. KIll switch ok. Mercury switch ok. Wires on the trigger ring were falling apart so i spliced on new wires where the old ones were bad. Could wires arcing against each other have burned it up or is the CDI box? Dont know how to test these. Thanks

I have a Lund 1660SS Classic fishing boat with a 60 HP 4 stroke mercury engine (2006). Was out fishing with my girls and while coming back the engine just stopped. No noise, smoke, just stopped and wouldn't start back up. We were running for only 5 minutes before this without problems, then slowed down to try fishing (literally 3 casts) and then started to head in. Was accelerating when the engine stopped. I have no clue what's run and don't know where to start. Any thoughts are appreciated before I have to take it in.
Thanks!!!

8-8-2011 On the lake last saturday. Engine started like always , checked for pisssing, checks good. Run for about 5 miles no problems. Pull to idle and the wife asks what that noise? Idleing fine. I sut down, key on still high pitch continious sound. Key off no sound , try to start engine no good. It will turn over but not start. Pulled cowling no real heat offeh engine. Towed to the dock loaded up and go home. I'm about to contact dealer, but would liek to have some insight of my problem. I've researched that continous alarm singifies overheating. But, if it's has suffieicent time to coll will it restart or does it have some type of trip switch that needs to be reset? Looking of some pro help? Thanks

I have a merc 350 mag with an bravo 3 outdrive, it runs but wont engage the outdrive. I was on the lake and started back, the boat began to pick up speed and plan. Before the boat planed I heard a sound come from the engine area and the boat did a slight forward jerk and then lost power to the outdrive. The engine still ran, however when I attempted to engage the outdrive, the engine only reved up. Thier was no sound of gear grind. Anyone have an idea of what I should look at first?

The starter was just replaced because pinion gear was stripped by the fly wheel. Installation was correct but apon de-energizing the starter (turned key off), the pinion gear didn't retracted (get out of the way) like on the other engine? Is there something I'm not seeing or just overloy worried?
