Mercury 125 Hp , 2004

My engine runs very good 3 months ago , then it start with problems. I got to a Mercury service and they told me I have water in my tank. They clean it, they change filter , they change fuel line and I got my boat back. Now it runs very different , it runs on 2 cylinders when I run about 2-3000 rpm .
The mechanic tells me it is normal because I have engine 125 Hp 2+2 he tell me..
But before all my problems start my engine works perfect in any range..
How can I find out if my engine is 2+2..
