Mercury 115 hp outboard 2017

by Mike

After running for about 1 hour the engine starts to miss. It doesn’t matter if I’ve been running wide open for and hour or trolling. An hour into a trip the motor just feels like a hard miss. The volt meter looks normal. I can shut down and restart and it runs fine sometimes for ten minutes or so and other times it will miss hard again in the next few minutes. I’ve let the fuel burn to “e” added sea foam to the empty tank and then 10 gallons on top and repeatEd that process twice. No change. It’s on a 22 foot sun chaser Tritoon

Mercury SeaPro 2019 runs perfect for about 30 minutes at 4200 rpm then starts missing. When I drop it to idle it runs steady

problem and may have. Who knows and thanks for at least setting up website.

Mercury 115 hp engine problems
by: Wayne Breeden

I posted a narrative of my engine problems on about 8/13/21. I got a call from a 115 Mercury owner in Oregon with similar issues. He had a technician connect a laptop with the analytical software to the engine. Obviously, they ran the engine with the cowling off for the computer data cable. This test was run on a river at the same power settings as when the engine problems were observed. After a considerable time at power on the river, no faults were observed and the engine ran 200 RPM higher at full throttle. I think the engine computer ran cooler in the open air and this prevented the fault. The RPM was probably higher due to the greater volume and cooler, thus more dense, induction air available for combustion. If anyone has similar problems, please call me. 901-481-1283
