Mariner 40hp two stroke

Hi There I have a Mariner 40hp outboard in pretty good condition, the engine is a 2004 model the problem I have is loss of power on full throttle, I had not used the boat for a year but it was going grand when I laid it up, I put new fuel into the tank, cleaned the fuel filter and put in new plugs, it started as normal and I headed up the river however when I applied full power it ran ok for around ten seconds the died and cut out, I went to neutral and started it again but the same problem on full power, I headed home on half power which was ok full power is the issue,I removed the Carb and had it cleaned out but no good just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction to sort it out.
