Is there a way to relieve the pressure on the shock cylinders? or are all these engines extremely hard to tilt up?
Thanks, Jim

Ok si i installed a new AMP and coil on my motor still no spark i thien went back checked my points they are good propper gap. then i checked how i wired my amp and think that might be the problem. the new install sheet from CDI states i need to connect the black wire to the Points plate?? the the black white wire to the points which that one is self explaniorty but the points plate? are they refering to the base where the ground wire was grounded to the power head? this is what is confusing me. any help would be awesome

I just bought an old 2hp johnson, I can easily start it. My buddy hit a rock with it last week, now it still starts, but I can't go fast, the motor idles up really fast, but we don't move forward, and the prop is turning. Anybody know what to do with this

I recently had my Johnson 60 cabs cleaned and the motor starst and runs great when trottled up but at idle or low speeds dies. Seems like it is running out of fuel.

I have my johnson motor that has been having the same problem since i bought it.
the boat turns on fine sounds great but when it comes to putting the pedal to the metal it moves no more then 5 knots then after 2-3 minutes of it full throttle it will boost and hit maximum performance and then it will stay fine till the boat turns off but when you turn it on it can go either way, either be lazy or boost.
what we have done to the boat, well we had everything cheaked a several different marine places and they said, spark plugs, filters ect, everything in the engine has been changed yet its still happening the only solution i have at the monment is that we need to re-wire the whole boat (but it doesnt look that bad no cuts in the cables ect), maybe change the kill switch, or the bush inside the engine, i am almost certain that its a electrical problem.
if anyone has any advice or thoughts please share it with me.
thankyou

Have run this boat 3 times now. Engine itself runs good. However, when running at higher rpm on the water, the motor jerks, as if it is trying to jump out of gear, and then back in? Reminds me of a car that has a slipping transmission so to speak. At lower rpm no problems. I am wondering if the shift mechanism is just not locking into place, but don't have a manual to see exactly what components are involved, or if a simple adjustment is required. Any help?

My shift cable adjustment is fine when engine is run on a garden hose in the driveway. When on the water the I must move the shift control slight past the detent position to get the engine to come out of gear. I suspect this has something to do with the back pressure when in the water. How do I make this slight adjustment to the shift cable? Any photos?

AT FIRST THE MOTTER RAN AND A BIT HARD TO START ANS SOME SMOKE, BUT THE STEERING SYSTEM BROKE .SO WE REPLACED THE STEARING SYSTEM. WE TOOK THE BOAT OUT AGAIN AND IT WOULDNT GET SPEED. AND FOUND IT HARD TO START AND SMOKED ,THE MOTER WOULD RUN WELL OUT OF THE WATER WITH A HOSE.CONNECTED. BUT IT STILL SMOKED . SO WE HAD THE CARBS REBUILT, PUT IT ON THE WATER AND AGAIN THE SAME PROUBLEM. WE FOUND 2 OF THE COILS WERE CRACKED NOW WE HAVE REPLACED THE COILS.PUT IT ON THE WATER AND IT WONT START TRYS TO TURN OVER BUT. WONT FIRE. WE ALSO REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS . WE HAVENT ADJUSTED THE CARBS COULD THAT BE THE PROUBLEM OR SOMETHING ELSE.

Well this weekend the boat ran great, nearing the ramp and boat turns off, won't start, won't turn over.
Get it home, 12+ volts on battery, lights works,. Engine turns on and I flush the salt out of it. then hose the engine over since it seems to be getting salt water spray inside(starboard side). Turn it off and it wont restart, engine wont turn over .Dash lights do not turn on with key in the on position.
I start checking the battery terminals, clean them. Checking for voltage at switch, have it at "I" and "Start", (6 position terminal, push in choke.)Negative is weak at one of the "m" terminals. I connect a test wire to battery ground and the "M" terminal and engine turns over but no spark.
Replaced ignition coil, no start. Replaced power pack, no spark.
Whats next the stator? Tired of replacing parts...
Please help!! Aldo
