Force 40hp elpt 1996

I set about replacing the impeller in my trusty Force 40hp OB. However, whilst removing the lower leg, I had some difficulty separating the shift rod and unfortunately broke the shift mechanism in the lower cowling. I live in New Zealand and sourcing Force parts is difficult locally as most have been scrapped. I know Force have had a bad rap over the years but I've had a great run with mine for the last 30 years (2 OB's) and my 96 model is still in great condition - hasn't missed a beat and starts first time every time. I'm hoping someone reading this could point me in the right direction. I'm after a horizontal shift shaft assembly (new or used). Can anyone suggest where I can get one of these? Any help would be greatly appreciated - I'm missing out on some great fishing! Model: Force 1996 40 ELPT
