bought a Evinrude motor and the dealer states it is a 2020 but the tag on the leg states 2014/07
Dealer states that the date of 2014/07 is the date of issue for this family of motors.
Evinrude Corp was contacted and they tell me the motor warranty was registered as a 2020 motor by the dealer and that the motor is a 2015
Dealer where I purchased motor states that this typical for all outboard motors, so that the retail companies do not have any outdated motors on their shelf which would depreciate
Is this true, that Evinrude or other boat motor companies do not go by year of manufacture as the date of the motor. Dealer also commented that year of manufacture is no longer included in the model number, but yet they ask for the model number when you need parts
