I have a Gibson executive 44 foot houseboat. My radio is mounted right above my control panel at the helm of the boat. If I'm just playing the radio and running my blower or pumps there's no problem with my radio. However when I plug-in the auxiliary cord there seems to be a drop-in power and radio continues to cut off and on. I would really like to be able to use my satellite radio plugged into the auxiliary outlet but I really need to run the blower while I'm on the water running my generator. What can I do to fix the radio.

We recently purchased this boat and have had a local marina winterize and summer-ize for us. We have had it out 3 times this summer and on 3rd time out decided to use radio only to find it wasn't working, nor would it turn off even when batteries were completely off.
We were told this spring one of the batteries was dead (new boat?) and were surprised but had the marina replace it. Now we wonder if the radio was on whole time? The radio is a fusion and we tried resetting according to manual but it would come right back on after a few seconds and stay in the start up mode not allowing music to be played.
Marina seems to be at a loss. Help???

I installed a new Am/FM radio in my boat replacing the old one that died.
The radio works fine until I turn the engine on then it shuts off, and will not work. I hooked the radio up to a different battery that was not on the power system of the boat. Same results as before. I tried putting a metal shield around the radio same thing. This is the second radio I have tried.

I have a triton sf21 and the stereo won't power up. I had it out 2 weeks ago and it worked fine. I got caught in a storm and the speakers started crackling so I unhooked the battery waited 2 days and hooked it back up and it worked fine. Now it wont power up so I bought a new stereo today and hooked it up and I have the same problem. All fuses In the panel are good and I checked the power wire and ground and they are good any suggestions because I am stumped

I have recently installed a Cobra DSC VHF radio and now I have loss of autopilot control when the radio is switched on. The radio stops scanning with the autopilot on standby and if I transmit the autopilot is overpowered and goes off course. My autopilot is a C-Tronic A P 9000.
I do not have this problem with my original radio a Sailor VHF compact RT 2048.
Any solutions.

The U.S. Coast Guard has decided to terminate its use of radiotelephone "Medium Frequency" (MF) 2182 kHz, which was first designated more than 65 years ago, as an international distress frequency. "Advancements in satellite, digital, very high frequency (VHF), and high frequency (HF) radio communication equipment, including satellite service provider competition, have improved service and reduced costs of this equipment causing MF radiotelephone to become obsolete," explained a Coast Guard notice published in the Federal Register on July 15. "The site deterioration, costly upkeep, and extensive maintenance required to support this legacy MF system, as well as the relatively minimal use by mariners, has led the Coast Guard to decide to discontinue support of the MF system," the Coast Guard added. The 2182 kHz frequency, generally referred to as "Medium Frequency," was first designated at the International Telecommunications Union Radio Conference in Atlantic City, NJ, in 1947. Many countries terminated their use of 2182 kHz after 1999, but the Coast Guard continued to use this frequency for "watchkeepingā€¯; from shore in order to support smaller vessels that operate between approximately 20 and 100 miles from shore that were not subject to the Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS). Effective on August 1, the Coast Guard will terminate its use of 2182 kHz for these watchkeeping purposes, said the notice. "Mariners should not need to purchase any new equipment to make this change from 2182 kHz to other GMDSS Global Maritime Distress and Safety System distress frequencies," noted the Coast Guard

I have just mounted a new VHF radio and antenna in my Lund boat and need to connect power. Do I need to run a wire all the way back to the battery to pick up ground?
YES!!!! Its not a ground its the negative supply, and if you dont you will rot your boat out extra fast
