I recently bought a 2001 BW Dauntless 16 with the Mercury 90 HP Saltwater as a running but project boat.

The engine starts and runs OK, however the neutral button on the throttle handle hub is missing and I am not sure if the neutral button mechanism is functional. I have read some reports of these being frozen. The engine shifts OK forward and reverse and neutral using the throttle but I would like to make this neutral switch functional. Some neutral buttons I see on line seem to have a long shaft which does not appear to be what I need so I thought I would ask in the forum for suggestions on how to proceed. Thanks
