2021 Mercury 75hp

We just bought a tracker boat with this motor. We have had it on the water twice to break in the motor with no issues. Today being the third time on the water the issue arose.
We got the boat in the water and out to the other side of the lake. When I stopped the motor the engine lifted all the way up on its own. None of the trim switches worked to make it go back down. After some trouble shooting I figured out it would go down and stay down if I put it in gear. Once I moved back to neutral it would lift up on its own again.
I called the dealer and they had no idea what was causing it or why it was happing.
I limped it back to the dock and dropped it off at the dealer.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing this to happen all the sudden?
