2003 Volvo Penta 4.3 GL-A

We just purchased this boat. The Tach is not working. We are going thru this boat changing all fluids & tune up. We have noticed that down by the harmonica balance there is a plug-in for some type of wire with nothing plugged into it. Should this or could this be the problem with the Tach not working? Thanks

Probably not, like vehicles you get unused plugs that are provided for testing and optional equipment. Look for loose connections though as that is favorite cause, look at back of tacho, then trace back wiring loom where there will be a plug/socket, make sure its in properly and so on.
