Went to lake with my 2002 20' bay liner 4.3 L Mercury and forgot to remove the plastic wrap around the prop when unloading to the lake, started the boat and ran fine while warming up the engine, after the boat would not pick up revs or have enough power to plane up. Did the plastic get sucked up inside the leg and obstruction from enough water to cool the engine?? That why it's not running properly now? Is the a screen inside that leg to catch debris and unwanted crap from entering the motor?? Please let me know ur thoughts. Questions call 1-403-846-6628 please.
