1971 starfire boat

I have a 1971 starfire 24' boat with v8 motor and a 270 penta out drive and when you are putting power to the motor it acts like it is slipping loss of power and motor reves up but not picking up any speed?

sounds like it might be the rubber bushing insert that drives or put power to the propeller from the motor. when old and worn out, old and brittle or the prop has struck something in the water while running can cause it to slip or spine some what free spine. while putting power to the motor accelerating gives the feeling of it slipping like a automatic transmission does when its going bad feels like its slipping. also causing lose of power. would check that first thing my friend.
