I just purchased this boat (2002 lund pro v 1900 ifs) and upon a more thorough inspection I found the wire from the alternator to a solenoid has melted the coating off the wire and also damaged others around it. Now said wire snakes its way through the main harness on the starboard side. It starts right up and is not getting hot now but i need to fix it and moreover how did this happen? Do i need a new engine harness? Seeing as it seems to run fine do i just overlay a new wire? I can fix a 100k Superduty but this outboard stuff is not my cup of tea.
