Javelin 85 outboard

Hi. First time here. I have a Javilin 85 outboard on my Savage runabout. Because it’s a ski boat and at the extreme end of the highest power motor for this boat. The boat lifts up at the front at a extreme angle for a bit. What I was wondering was if I removed the locking pin completely from the locking holes would it make any difference to lowering it further so it would drop the nose. Does it need the locking pin or can one just discard this completely.
