92 Johnson fastrike 150 j150Gleis

My pinion gear broke, so I replaced it and also replaced the shaft and gear assembly that sits on top of it. Put everything back worked great for awhile. Then after sever starts and or cranks, the shaft blew up through the top cover that supports the bushing. Bought another cover/ same thing. Changed out stater, blew out again. Changed back to original shaft assembly that rides on top of pinion. Cranked several times, then blew top aff again.
