1990 Fisher MH2V

The model above is the boat that the motor came on. It has a 40 HP force by Mercury motor on it, but the serial number is blank and I cannot find the number anywhere else on the motor. I know that it needs a water pump kit as it was removed by the previous owner, but I need to know what year the motor is to order the right parts. Is there another way to find out the year of the motor, or somewhere to find the model number so that I can order parts? Or was the water pump perhaps the same for all years of these motors? Any help would be appreciated.
