I have an 1980 Evinrude (E100tlcsc) and the Tach is driving me insane. When the engine is first started the Tach reads fine no jumps or ticks and in less than 2 minutes the Tach will very slowly drop to zero. When I play with the tilt/trim switch on the handle the gauge will read what it is supposed to for just a second or two, also when I ever so slightly turn the key back towards the off position Tach gauge will read as well. and according to test the rectifier while running is producing 12.6-14.3 depending on rpm's the engine and load. Switch and rectifier is less than a year old. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
